Job Title: Learning Support Mentor
Location: Cambridge
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only (38 weeks per year)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £20,065.60 per annum (pro-rated) / £23,519 FTE
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Mentor to join our Construction Department within the Learning Directorate. You will provide vital support to students with learning difficulties and disabilities, helping them access the curriculum and achieve greater independence.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students in various learning environments, including reading materials, note-taking, and use of assistive technologies. Work closely with teaching staff and follow guidance from the Learning Support Manager. Adapt learning resources to meet students’ needs. Promote student independence and empowerment. Provide support beyond the classroom, including during breaks and off-campus activities. Maintain accurate records of student support and progress. Attend team meetings and contribute to learning support improvements. Assist with therapy interventions under professional guidance. Participate in annual review meetings as needed.
Requirements:
GCSEs in English and Maths (grade C/4 or equivalent). Level 2 Learning Support qualification or working towards it. Experience supporting students with special educational needs, preferably in an FE or similar setting. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Computer literate and familiar with digital assistive technology. Enhanced DBS clearance required (we will support this process).
