We are recruiting for our client based in Yeovil for an experienced Mechanical Metrology Calibration Engineer to support Transmission operations.
This is a temporary position running until April 2027, with the possibility of extension depending on business requirements.

To provide a Mechanical Metrology Calibration, validation, inspection and testing service supporting Transmission operations.

Job Purpose
To provide a Mechanical Metrology Calibration, validation, inspection and testing service supporting Transmission operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Calibration of mechanical test and measuring equipment, selecting appropriate test standards in line with required accuracies.
- Calibration of equipment across all ranges and functions, including:
- Pressure indicating instruments
- Testing and verification of crimping tools
- Conducting calibration tasks both within the laboratory and across site.
- Reviewing and assessing technical specifications of mechanical test equipment to support supervision within Transmission.
- Supporting the offload of test and measuring equipment to external suppliers for calibration, including dispatch and receipting processes.
- Reviewing and assessing technical specifications to support supplier calibration activities.
- Carrying out BER (Beyond Economic Repair) and NCS (Non-Conformance) processes for equipment returning from supplier calibration.
- Educated to HNC level (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering, working to high tolerances.
- Experience within a mechanical calibration/inspection environment.
- Knowledge of computer data systems, word processing, and confident keyboard skills.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of an integrated team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
