Location: Salford, Greater Manchester
Key Purpose:
Support learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) academically and socially to help them achieve their full potential and feel included in the college community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, learner-centered support to help SEND students progress academically and personally.
- Collaborate with tutors and teams to adapt teaching methods and resources.
- Support the use of assistive technology and specialist equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of learner support and safeguarding concerns.
- Assist learners during assessments, ensuring fairness and accessibility.
- Support learners with medical, mental health, or social care needs with dignity.
- Encourage participation in enrichment activities and college events.
- Work with parents, tutors, and external agencies to remove learning barriers.
- Support positive behavior and attendance monitoring.
- Contribute to continuous service improvement through feedback and data analysis.
- Level 3 qualification (or working towards).
- GCSE English and Maths Grade 4 or above (or equivalent).
- Experience supporting learners with SEND in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of EHCP, safeguarding, and SEND Code of Practice.
- Strong communication, organizational skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safeguarding and working with vulnerable groups (DBS check required).
- Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
- Ability to use IT systems and maintain confidentiality.
- Flexible and empathetic approach.
