Respect (1) have surveyed 2,000 workers, in order to glean what characteristics may entice them into a position. According to their findings, the perfect job boasts a four-day week, working just 24 hours and with a healthy salary of £61,000. Candidates would also like free fruit  and a boss who enjoys a pint after work – The Daily Mail reports.

Mark Rhodes, Marketing Director for, said: “Work-life balance means something different to each of us.

“For some it may be combining hard work and dedication to the job with the pursuit of personal interests and hobbies outside of work, whilst for others it might be the fulfilment of childcare and family responsibilities.”

Other benefits that were highly sought-after include flexible hours, a relaxed dress code and regular reviews. It seemed applicants also want local gym memberships and access to sports clubs.

“For dual-income couples who both work full-time,” continues Rhodes, “it is little surprise that flexibility and an understanding employer rank so highly. But our research shows that work-life balance is also an important factor for millennials. They've grown up with technology that gives them access to information and allows them to be productive anywhere, and it's shaped their view of work.”
