My client is a UK-based specialist in precision tool design and pattern manufacture, serving industries like plastic packaging, automotive, and aerospace. They design and produce CNC-ready tooling, bespoke mould patterns, and packaging prototypes for leading clients.

The Role
Join as a key member of their technical design team, driving projects from concept through to production-ready CAD models and workshop-ready documentation. You’ll collaborate closely with clients, project managers, toolmakers, and CNC technicians to deliver high-quality tooling and pattern solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end design: develop concept sketches, detailed 3D models, and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Generate production-ready models, including assemblies and components for CNC machining.
  • Create engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and CNC toolpath guidelines.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders for site surveys, component testing, and design iteration.
  • Streamline and improve CAD processes—value-engineering, standardisation, and manufacturability.
  • Engage in design reviews, ensuring designs meet functional, safety and quality requirements.
  • Stay current with tooling and materials technology to offer innovative solutions.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for client and team interactions.
Desirable:
  • Experience in the plastic packaging, pattern-making, or related sectors.
  • Familiar with CAM software or CNC toolpath planning.
