HSE Manager for Leading Engineering Organisation in Green Energy Sector based in Stone. This is a permanent full time role working Monday to Friday 8.30am-5pm offering a salary of £50k per annum, hybrid working and more!
Location: UK (hybrid with regular travel to Bohr offices and project sites)

The Role:
The HSE Manager will spearhead the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental agenda across both office and site operations. This role involves maintaining and enhancing management systems, ensuring certifications are up-to-date, and fostering a practical, people-first safety culture. Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and improving ISO 9001 (Quality) certification, and managing ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 45001 (Occupational H&S) systems.
- Planning and leading internal audits, managing external audits, and addressing non-conformities.
- Ensuring compliance with UK legislation such as RIDDOR 2013, COSHH, PUWER, LOLER, and CDM 2015.
- Setting standards for risk assessments and method statements, and supporting permit-to-work and site safety plans.
- Leading incident and near-miss investigations, tracking actions to closure, and sharing learnings.
- Partnering with Project Managers on H&S plans, environmental aspects, quality plans, and supplier quality.
- Delivering toolbox talks, inductions, and targeted training, and promoting continuous improvement.
- Pre-qualifying and auditing contractors and key suppliers, and managing quality/HS&E requirements.
- Producing clear HSE dashboards and board-level insights.
- Overseeing waste, emissions, and spill prevention controls, and supporting ESG initiatives.
- Maintaining emergency response plans and ensuring suitable equipment and competent first aiders/fire wardens.
- Line-managing HSE Advisors/Coordinators and developing team capability.
What You’ll Bring:
- Strong experience in a HSE leadership role within engineering, construction, utilities, or energy projects.
- Proven success in maintaining ISO 9001/14001/45001 certifications and running internal audit programmes.
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK H&S and environmental legislation.
- Competent investigator with solid root-cause skills.
- Ability to influence supervisors and subcontractors on-site.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis to build meaningful dashboards.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
Qualifications:
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (Diploma or equivalent experience desirable).
- Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 9001 and/or ISO 45001; ISO 14001 an advantage).
- Environmental qualification (e.g., IEMA Foundation/Practitioner) desirable.
- Professional membership (e.g., IOSH/IIRSM/IQA/IEMA) or working towards.
Nice to Have:
- Experience under CDM 2015 with Principal Contractor/Principal Designer interfaces.
- Exposure to utilities, renewables, gas/biomethane, or similar high-hazard environments.
- Supplier quality management and materials traceability experience.
- Experience in behavioural safety programme implementation and/or digital HSE tools roll-outs.
