Step into a pivotal role as an HSE Coordinator in Burntwood, where your expertise will drive health, safety, and environmental excellence for this well established organisation which provides roofing solutions to the construction industry. This standalone position reports into the Site Manager with support from the HSE Manager at their sister company in Stoke. You will need to be flexible to cover holiday and attend meetings occasionally at their Stoke site. 

The role offers a structured Monday to Friday schedule, from 8am to 4pm, providing a balanced work-life rhythm. The role is integral to maintaining and enhancing safety standards, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and fostering a culture of safety awareness supporting 30 staff in total onsite. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Health and Safety Compliance: Maintain a vigilant focus on site compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Environmental Management: Assist in the upkeep of the ISO14001 Environmental Management System, addressing non-conformities and recommendations.
  • Audits: Conduct internal audits and manage external audits, including ISO certifications.
  • Incident Management: Oversee incident control, including thorough investigations and reporting, increasing near-miss and behavioural-based safety reporting to achieve a 0% lost time accident rate.
  • Training and Communication: Deliver monthly 'Toolbox Talks' and organise quarterly HSE meetings.
  • Documentation: Review and write Safe Working Procedures (SWPs) and Risk Assessments.
  • Field Work: Participate in off-site audits with roofing surveyors, involving work at height.
  • Improvement Initiatives: Identify and implement HSE improvements, supporting organisational adoption.
  • System Management: Maintain HSE management systems in line with local and international standards.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Educational Background: HSE Knowledge and experience ideally gained in a manufacturing environment within a standalone role.
  • Certifications: IOSH 'Managing Safely' trained.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with COSHH/ REACH and ATEX regulations is beneficial.
  • Legislative Understanding: Proficient in the Management of Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Regulations 2005, and Environmental Legislation.
  • Competencies: Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivation, accountability, and excellent communication abilities.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with digital systems (Ultimo) and proficiency in Windows (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
