About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Officer to join our team at a Salford-based college for a 12-week fixed term contract. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting and maintaining a safe, compliant, and positive working and learning environment for all students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and support all aspects of health, safety, and welfare across the college.
- Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and college policies.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, providing detailed reports and recommendations.
- Deliver health and safety training, guidance, and support to staff as required.
- Liaise with external agencies and ensure statutory obligations are met.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness throughout the college community.
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within an educational or public sector environment.
- A recognised Health & Safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH or equivalent).
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Strong knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
- A current Enhanced DBS certificate (this is essential for the role).
- Experience working within a college or similar educational setting.
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and procedures.
