Compliance Engineer

Our client an industry leader in their field are currently looking for a Compliance Engineer with knowledge of PUWER legislation to work at their site in Hexham.
 
The Role
To Provide support with engineering activities for new installations to ensure all activities are compliant
Support the Production Manager to ensure that machinery and equipment on site conforms with respect to their safety design and valid regulations.
Propose any necessary changes and upgrades required to ensure compliance of existing machinery
Review and ensure required documentation and records are obtained, updated and correctly stored.
Conduct and support technical Risk and Conformity Assessments with the relevant Production Manager.
Implement a plan for completing regular technical safety checks on the existing equipment on site.
To ensure conformity of plant machinery (including parts) is applied when equipment is purchased in conjunction with the Project Team and Technical Purchasing Team.
To demonstrate professional competence and development by keeping skills up to date and in providing evidence of continuing professional development.
Work closely with the relevant Production Manager, Engineering Department,  SHE Department and Project Team, and other departments as necessary.
 
To ensure test schedules are created and / or carried out when a machine is initially commissioned or after modification, to ensure the safety system functions are documented and operate as expected.
To undertake any other reasonable duties and tasks as commensurate with the position.
To provide out of hours support if required. 
 
The Person
Must have minimum HND level education in engineering discipline or significant relevant experience in design, manufacturing, or maintenance.
Should have successfully completed training in Work Equipment and Machinery Safety - PUWER, CE/CA marking and the Machinery Directive.
Must have experience working in a manufacturing or similar engineering industry.
Must be familiar with dealing with legislation and ACOP relating to machinery safety.
Must have experience with risk assessments.
Good standard of IT skills and competent use of Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Structured method of working, with good organisational skills.
Able to work independently, as well as part of a team, utilising well developed communication skills.
Motivated and self-driven to not only ensure compliance is achieved, but also to keep up to date with the relevant regulations and associated training.
