Accounts Assistant | Rochdale Office Based | £30,000 – £32,000 | Full Time | 31 Days Annual Leave

We are currently recruiting for a highly organised Accounts Assistant to join a well-established and growing construction business based in Rochdale. This is a permanent position working Monday to Thursday 8am-5pm and Fridays 8am-4.30pm fully office based. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in finance within a supportive environment. Formal qualifications aren’t essential—this employer is far more interested in your experience, attitude, and work ethic.

As Accounts Assistant you will play a key role within a small yet busy accounts function, supporting with purchase ledger, payroll preparation, and general finance administration. This is more than just a job—it’s a chance to develop your skills and grow within the business, with scope to expand your role across the wider accounts team over time.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Processing and reconciling on average 30-40 supplier purchase invoices per day
  • Matching invoices to purchase orders and resolving discrepancies
  • Maintaining accurate supplier records and reconciliations
  • Reviewing and approving employee timesheets
  • Preparing payroll data including hours, overtime, and adjustments
  • Supporting weekly and monthly payroll processes
  • Managing the accounts inbox and supplier communications
  • Maintaining organised digital and physical filing systems
  • Providing administrative and PA support to senior finance leadership
  • Assisting with month-end processes and ad hoc accounts tasks

What We’re Looking For
  • Previous experience in an accounts administration role
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Excellent data entry skills with previous knowledge of invoice processing useful
  • Confident using Excel and accounting systems (Sage 50 preferred but not essential)
