Yard Manager/ Leominster, Herefordshire / £28,000 to £32,000 pa

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Yard Manager to join our client, a growing construction business based in Leominster. As Yard Manager you will be involved in the pre-production (planning) stage as well as the production (control and supervision) stage.

A large part of this position involves dealing with people, particularly those who work in your team. As this is a progressive firm, the manager's role will be closely integrated with other functions, such as HSE, HR & Recruitment. Your key responsibly will include:

  • Maintain dispatch paperwork ensuring that delivery is supplied on time and through full adherence to loading schedules
  • Hold morning meetings with the cell communicating daily production targets to team members throughout the delivery process
  • Manage manpower and equipment performance to ensure targets are consistently met and capacity is fully utilised
  • Ensure work is carried out in accordance with the required business; customer quality and picking accuracy
  • Monitor operators and Drivers to check they comply with all on-site health & safety regulations and company policy
  • Attend production and planning meetings as required
  • Identify and implement changes to improve the flow and productivity of the cell
  • Carry out daily WIP counts within cell, in line with loading plan

Prerequisites for the role:

  • It would be desirable for the successful applicant to hold an IOSH Certificate or equivalent
  • Experience of working within the Steel Construction industry
  • Planning and organising skills
  • Ability to act decisively
  • Capacity to grasp concepts easily
  • Problem-solving capabilities
  • ICT literacy
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively
  • Excellent time management
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work in a logical, systematic manner
  • FLT Licence
  • Full UK Driving Licence
