To be part of the whole learning team responsible for supporting students with Additional Educational Needs. This includes supporting those with difficulties in the areas of communication and interaction, cognition and learning, social, emotional and mental health, sensory and or physical and those identified as eligible for Pupil Premium.
To assist the Principal and teaching staff in the development and implementation of programmes of work and in the provision of a stable, caring and supportive learning environment, which enable students to achieve their full learning potential and facilitates their social and moral development.
Deliver and prepare learning support individually and in groups through a range of tasks, for example: supporting literacy and numeracy tasks, clarifying and explaining instructions focusing support in areas needing improvement, both academic and social and contribute to the assessment of pupil progress supporting pupils to use ICT and other sometimes specialist equipment to enhance learning motivating and encouraging pupils to concentrate and to achieve progress.
Undertake learning activities with pupils of significantly varying abilities to ensure differentiation and access to the curriculum.
Promote and reinforce pupils' self-esteem, appropriate behaviour and effort and to guide pupils to become independent learners.
Assist teaching staff in the development strategies and the monitoring and evaluation of programmes of work.
Ideal candidates will be educated to Degree standard, preferably in English with some experience of working with children/young people in an environment to support learning.
Hours are 8.30 to 3.30 Monday to Friday or 8.30 to 3.30 3 days per week.
