Meridian Business Support are looking to recruit a Container Operations Clerk for one of their reputable Clients based in Grangemouth.


Assist with administrative duties associated with port container traffic, ensuring that all relevant details are obtained for receiving and despatch purposes and these are entered into the appropriate systems. Manage health and safety in line with legislation and Company Policy.


  • Customer Relations

Ensuring the customer receives a first class service at all times to stipulated timescales. During times of high traffic volume, you can be working under pressure to process vehicles quickly and accurately.

  • Planning & Preparation

Working in the compounds is mainly re-active, so you should have the ability to think on your feet and react quickly. You are required to process a high volume of emails, answer any telephone enquiries and run computer reports to compile statistics reports for managers in a timely manner.

  • Administration

The job role mostly involves data entry. You are required to have a meticulous eye for detail to ensure all data entered into the computer systems is 100% accurate. Therefore, excellent keyboard and computer skills essential. You are required to check all paperwork for the containers arriving into port ensuring they have all the correct documentation e.g. standard shipping note, dangerous goods note as well as checking records to ensure correct container uplift procedures are always followed. i.e. release of container from container line and customs clearance.

  • Records

Maintain all appropriate records to ensure the efficient running of the container operations, both PC and paper based. This information must be accurate. The department measures overall accuracy for the team as well as individual's accuracy.

  • Communication

Must be confident communicator, able to talk on internal radios and communicate professionally by telephone and email. A large part of the job involves communicating with lorry drivers and employees should be able to converse appropriately as well as maintaining good relations with other departments and external agencies.

  • Seal checking
  • Staff may be required to carry out container seals checks on vehicles arriving into the Port. Staff must be fit and active to carry out these duties.
  • Any other duties required.


  • Ensure hauliers arriving to uplift goods from the port are loaded with the correct containers and issued with the correct paperwork.
  • Flexibility to assist in other administrative areas.
  • Provide the relevant information for revenue, payroll and storage purposes in order that the correct invoicing can be completed.
  • Provide cover for other Container Clerks.


Must be computer literate with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel and Word) and must have accurate keyboard and computer skills.


Early Shift 6am > 1.30pm

Back Shift 1pm > 8.30pm
