"Stock control is the process of making sure that the correct level of stock is maintained, to be able to meet demands while keeping the costs of holding the stock on a minimum. Holding the right level of stock in our business is paramount to the customer service delivery promise we make.
Buying on the other hand is the set of procedures used to identify products for purchase, verifying their quality and the compliance of those products. This is done by relationship building with the vendors, carrying our purchasing transactions and verifying that this has been executed appropriately"
I am excited to be looking for our new "Buyer and Stock Controller" a combination of the two areas of expertise listed above. We are a brand giant within our field of expertise and a permanent position is available. We are a business that really cares about how the customer feels which is surely something everyone would want. We ensure that their products manufactured are on/ahead-of-trend, quality and competitive. A friendly environment to work in, great team atmosphere, attractive benefits package and paying a salary of between £27-28k per annum.
Different organisations have stock control and buying processes of varying complexity, dependent on the industry in which they work and the nature of the products being held or purchased. We seek someone from an FMCG background ideally for our business, as this would work well with our product portfolio.
Your role will be assisting in the negotiation and ordering and monitoring stock of raw materials plus ancillary goods and services. Making sure we get the best value procurement of raw materials, ancillary goods and services. Working closely with the Purchasing Director in the buying process and seeing through effective purchasing and ordering will be your priority. However this will also mean you look for the best cost solution through good stock control and buying process.
We need you to be someone who is engaging and is confident in their negotiation and influencing skills, as you will have regular communication with suppliers and internal departments. Careful planning will allow you to maintain and adjust stock levels in line with our company forecasts, trends, events and budgets. A good head for figures and the use of Excel; will enable you to analyse stock turnover, trends and sales.
This role is live, we have a member of our staff retiring and ideally we would like to fill this role by the end of June. Therefore if you have a longer notice period we can probably work with this.
