The Company:

This is a highly technical, cutting edge role at the face of manufacturing based in the tranquil and beautiful County of Somerset. Working within the Production Support Team, the Mechatronics Engineer is required to lead the Automation Programme from suitability and feasibility analysis to implementation, testing and final sign-off including safety. This is a busy CNC environment looking to automate some of their production processes via the use of robots throughout the business . It will be your role to assess their usage and further investment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify current equipment which can easily be automated through to processes which would require significant change in order to automate but come with a higher ROI
  • Integrate automation with robotics an CNC machinery, particularly providing solutions to ensure repeatable input conditions for material which exceeds input tolerances in a free state
  • Research and collaborate with suppliers/integrators
  • Study processes; identify and make recommendations for automation possibilities
  • Work with various process owners, subcontractors, vendors and programmers to develop and implement proposed ideas
  • Design of tooling using standard Pro-E CAD package

Preferred Skills:

  • Degree in Mechatronics or similar filed with relevant work experience
  • Proven track record of leading the implementation of robotics and automation (5 years)
  • Strong mechanical and electronic aptitude
  • Ability to interface automation, robotics and CNC
  • Extensive understanding of work holding methods and techniques
  • Familiarity with current manufacturing processes
  • Good knowledge of health and safety statutory requirements
  • PLC programming
