Are you an experienced machine minder and setter looking for a new opportunity within the Somerset area? If you like being part of a small company where you can learn a lot and build your current knowledge and skills this could be the perfect match.
We are currently recruiting for a Machine Setter to work for a small, family run engineering company based near Langport in Somerset. You will be joining their engineering team and will receive hands on training on a variety of machines.
Machinery used includes:
  • Automatic saw
  • Tube bending machines
  • Brake Press
  • Guillotine
Experience in operating and setting a variety of engineering machines will be essential, but you do not need experience in all of the machines listed above.
Experience of operating NC controlled equipment would be advantageous, but programming is not essential.
 
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
  • Setting and operating machines
  • Maintenance of tools and equipment according to company practice
  • Work involving wire, power presses and assembly (as the level of work dictates)
  • Supervisory experience overseeing work produced from equipment that the applicant would have setup for other personnel to operate
 
The successful applicant would be working with a variety of industrial equipment fabricating stainless steel tubular, wire and sheet metal components. A mechanical engineering and manufacturing background will be advantageous as well as a hands on approach to being able fix and maintain machinery. You must be self-motivated and able to use own initiative in solving problems.
Hours of work are 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-1pm.

The rate of pay is between £11.50 - £12.00 per hour depending on experience.

This is initially starting on a long term temporary position with the view to becoming a permanent position after completing a successful trial period.

The company has a summer shutdown for two weeks in August and a factory shutdown over Christmas.
