Meridian are currently recruiting for a well-respected and established Engineering company based in Taunton. Due to growth the company is currently seeking a Health and Safety Assistant to join their well-established team on a minimum of a 12-month contract. This role would suite a graduate who is seeking a role in this field or someone looking to gain further HSE experience in a generalist field.

Role Duties:
  • Implement compliance, health and safety procedures
  • Undertake project work
  • Ensure Project documentation is accurate
  • Undertake minute meetings
  • Work alongside internal departments
  • Train individuals on Health and Safety matters
  • Assist with carrying out Health and Safety Investigations, Risk Assessments and COSHH assessments.
  • Assist in completing internal health and Safety Inspections and Audits
 
Requirements:
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or the equivalent/ working towards.
  • Solid foundation in Health and Safety including knowledge of HSE legislation, Safe Working Practices and fire safety.
  • Competent with IT skills and used to using Microsoft Packages including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook 360.
  • Able in training individuals on Health and Safety matters on a one to one and group basis with the use of Microsoft Power Point or hands on.
  • ISO 45001:2015 Internal Auditor qualification or the equivalent desirable.
  • Participate in Health and Safety meetings including First Aid.
  • Knowledge of Environmental management and Control.

  • Confident to ask questions if unsure of what is required of them.
  • Confident to challenge established practices and procedures, through appropriate channels.
  • Confident communicator who is able to adapt to the audience they are addressing.
  • Flexible working on a variety of projects at any one time.
  • Consistent and articulate in written and verbal communication.
