As a young, innovative SME we are very rapidly growing within the cosmetics industry, and with an ambitious future ahead we are looking for a Finance Director to join our growing team. We will require our newly appointed expert to create, direct and run a professional accounting, reporting and financial control system within the business. This will be befitting of an international group of high performance, rapid growth brands. Group turnover is projected to go from £20m to around £50m in the next 2-3 years as the company is expanding in the UK and International.
Up to now the business has used the services of external bookkeepers to provide accounting and VAT services, but the growth of our online sales, suggests this approach is now in need of review. The general accounting needs of the business involves accounting for stock, international transfers, group reporting and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, VAT (including with customs etc.), tax, payroll and audit. As Director although initially your priority will be to get your systems and processes embedded, you will be involved in some strategic planning where we will value your knowledge and input at a senior level. Migration from cash accounting to accruals accounting, taking forward a project already underway to professionalise the ledgers will be a priority on joining and future proofing the business for auditing will also be your responsibility.
The role does not have a team at this stage, (save for the external bookkeepers) but as this becomes a requirement you will be responsible for the recruitment, management and development of your own finance division. The role will report to our Managing Director.
Someone from an SME background who has experience of working in company with rapid growth, ideally from a wholesale or stock distribution model with overseas dealings would be attractive to us. FMCG background would also work well for us, as would a cosmetics background perhaps.
We are looking to offering a salary in the region of £60k and working hours are 9-5pm Monday to Friday. We are based in Brighton, in an energetic and bright office environment. Working from home is possible however, we would require you to be visible in the business and have access to Brighton for meetings with our senior leadership team.
