Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will help specify, architect, develop and verify firmware and software for the next products on the client's road map and support upgrades to their existing diverse portfolio. Most of the products contain one or more ARM based, network enabled management microcontrollers, which are developed in house using C, CrossStudio and Ceedling for unit test.

To maximise manufacturing agility they build all products in house and so you will also be involved in the generation of production test equipment predominantly using Python3 developed in PyCharm; Jira being their chosen issue tracker.

Preferred Skills:

  • Development of complex embedded firmware for world class electronic products in C
  • A working knowledge of communications concepts, interfaces and network infrastructures e.g. TCP/IP
  • Experience of PyQT and other Python libraries.
  • Coding within an established quality framework using contemporary development tools and practices.
  • Practical electronics experience
  • Collaborate with in-house and technical partner cross-functional development teams
  • Plan, execute and document development activities
  • Maintain and improve the current software design standards and processes
  • Design and implementation of Continuous Integration systems
  • Embedded real-time operating systems experience
  • Windows/Linux/Mac OS applications, services and driver development

Personal Attributes:

  • Development of embedded firmware in C for complex electronics devices
  • A good degree and/or relevant experience in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience of Python
  • Practical electronics experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator capable of working in multidisciplinary teams and conveying complex technical issues to a non-technical audience
  • General understanding of Enterprise IT infrastructure, VMware, PCoIP, cloud etc.

Working Hours: 8.30am to 5.30pm Mon-Thurs, with a 4pm finish on a Friday (Flexitime could be offered on this position).
