Design Manager

The Company:

The leader of our design and production capability who fosters our four company values whilst engendering a customer-centric technical culture. This role is the operational custodian of our product and service offer and is responsible to ensure that the capacity and capability of our fulfilment team exists to deliver customer satisfaction and accelerated growth at optimal speed and efficiency.  You will be a first class Manager of a Technical Team of Service Delivery Experts, ideally within an engineering environment.  Your knowledge of Quality Systems will be highly relied upon, as will your strategic yet hands on management approach.
 
Job Responsibilities:
People Management:  you will be an effective and empowering manager of 20 staff within a technical and design environment.
Design and Fulfilment: to drive and continuously improve our renewables system production processes to ensure bespoke design drawings,  efficiency calculations, system fulfilments and bills of materials.
Process: to ensure compliance with the scheme is met whilst delivering the customer promise.
Quote and Design Software Systems : to ensure all systems are fully functional and that a continuous improvement plan is being followed based on feedback from customers and employees
  • To manage and onboard new products in liaison with the product development department
  • To simplify and systemise all business processes in order to deliver operational improvements but only where there is a benefit for - or no impact to - the customer
  • To ensure customer feedback relating to design and production is properly understood, tasks and initiatives are prioritised and smart objectives are delegated, owned and delivered and subsequent improvements are measured and reported.
  • To coach, mentor and support the department to achieve personal, team and organisational success and to identify and support individual areas for improvement in order to fulfil potential
  • Assume a leadership role across the business ensuring strategy and cultural development in line with our brand
Preferred Skills:
  • Motivational leader with a track record of developing others and driving performance  within a technical engineering design environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills are essential
  • Understanding of building practices is important
  • Championing of customer service best practice is key
  • Must be highly motivated and energetic with an ability to operate in a dynamic work environment with changing priorities
  • Experience with production processes and lean continuous improvement is desirable
