Communications Consultant – Public Transport
Meridian are looking for an experienced Communications and Stakeholder Management Consultant with experience in the Public Transport sector for a brilliant opportunity in Qatar. As the public transport in Qatar is developed and integrated by planners, architects and engineers, your job as the Communications Consultant will be to promote the new systems, smart card ticketing and Public Transport in general, and help integrate the system across the country. This will help educate and spread awareness of the benefits of public transport, improve and optimise Qatar's internal transport structure whilst aligning the country with surrounding transport links through roads, rail, and airports, as well as working to promote Qatar on an international stage by modernising their transport systems.

Meridian have been asked to support the key programme of these works specifically across Doha, Qatar. This project focusses around the Public Transport System from the front end (modelling and planning), optioneering to concept and detailed design through to delivery.

The aim of this project is to continue building the Public Transport network across Doha into a world-leading system. Your role will be to communicate the plans to the general public, keeping them well-informed and explaining the benefits of the system as it gets developed over the next 3-years.

The main duties of this job include:
  • Being responsible for promoting public transport
  • Manage and implement strategic plans for encouraging the use of public transport
  • Conduct intensive marketing campaigns to highlight the advantages of using public transport, along with its environmental and social benefits
  • Operate the public transport operations centre in terms of marketing, awareness, and communication with customers
  • Manage trip planning applications and route determination
  • Manage the marketing of the "Sila" system and customer traffic
  • Manage social media operations for the "Sila" system
  • Responsible for representing the ministry and liaising with various government agencies such as Hamad International Airport Authority, Karwa Company, Qatar Railways (Rail Company), and all relevant stakeholders within the "Sila" system
  • Study the issues assigned by the administration manager and provide professional opinions and assess the economic feasibility of projects related to the administration
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both Arabic and English (spoken and written)

Requirements for this role:
  • Minimum of 10-years relevant experience in Transport, Infrastructure and Public Transport industry or similar
  • Proficiency in spoken and written Arabic and English languages
  • A degree in Marketing (or related discipline)
