Clerical jobs within a hospital can vary depending on which department you work in. For example, in some clerical roles, you will have a lot of contact with patients and relatives, in others none at all. Clerks perform a range of duties – which include: 

  • Booking patients in for appointments
  • Keeping patients records
  • Filing 
  • Chasing up reports
  • Photocopying
  • Data entry
  • Ordering  stationery
  • Dealing with telephone calls
  • Helping to cover a reception desk/area
