A recent statistic from the National Careers Service suggests that only 40% of jobs are advertised. Being able to network effectively enables you to get inside information on jobs and careers, as well as build up contacts who may be able to help you find work. Applying for jobs that aren’t being advertised also cuts down on your competition, so if you’re not already, make sure you are networking both in person and online. Check out industry conferences, events and forums, visit jobs fairs, join online networking sites such as LinkedIn and do the same.
