IES LABOUR MARKET STATISTICS

The Institute for Employment Studies have released their latest Labour Market report today and it makes for interesting reading.
Some of the Highlights are:
Redundancies reached a new peak in the three months to September
Hiring and vacancies likely being held back by spare capacity in firms as furlough unwound, and by continued economic uncertainty.
The significant falls in employment appear to be due to lower self-employment amongst men
Conversely there are significant rises in full-time employment for women
Signs that young people are bearing the brunt of the crisis – with youth employment down by more than 300 thousand
Progress in narrowing the employment gap for disabled people has stalled during the crisis
There are signs that vacancies had started to recover more strongly in September and October
