Meridian Business Support Steps up to Support OPERA Global Youth Foundation
Following the launch of OPERA Global Youth Foundation on 14th September support is continuing to grow.
OPERA believe young people are amazing. But, right now, 71 million face unemployment. The OPERA purpose is to unite every recruiter to empower 71 million young people to #thrive, not just survive. This is why OPERA was built, the first global recruitment youth employment foundation to do exactly that.
Derek Skelton, Chief Executive, Meridian Business Support, the latest in a line of recruitment agencies signing up to support OPERA.
Derek tells us "I left university in 1985 and I couldn’t get a job anywhere in the North East. I was told that there was low unemployment in high Wycombe, so I got on my bike and that’s where I went! I walked into a recruitment agency who said they didn’t take on graduates and told me to try the agency next door. There I met a chap on reception who asked me what I wanted to do, I replied ‘HR’ and he said ‘start here first thing tomorrow! 32 years later I am still in recruitment! If I could go back and tell myself one thing, it would be that you can be anything you want to be if you’re prepared to put the work in.
OPERA is a brilliant foundation that helps our youth find employment and transform their lives.
We think Meridian have a lot to offer the foundation and as a company we believe in helping people and are involved in various initiatives that help the less fortunate in society."
OPERA Global Youth Foundation are delighted to have Meridian on-board, Meridian are an award winning recruitment agency who have already demonstrated a strong CSR focus and have received awards for being one of the best agencies to work for. Working with OPERA to truly enable change for thousands of youth people is an extension of these values.
OPERA Global Youth Foundation are looking for 71 recruitment agencies to join and enable them to build Academy71 with the aim of helping 10,000 young people in the next three years.
