The NHS is celebrating its 68th birthday this week.
The National Health Service (NHS), which was launched on 5th July 1948 was seen as an eperimental service and was launched by the then Health Secretary, Aneurin Bevan at Manchester's Park Hospital (now known as Trafford General Hospital) to bring reliable, affordable healthcare for all in Britain.
Today, this ambitious service deals with more than 1 million patients every 36 hours in England alone, and employs more than 1.5 million people across the UK and is the fifth biggest employer in the world.
