Availability of Permanent Staff
May data pointed to a further deterioration in the availability of permanent candidates. Although easing to the slowest in 31 months, the rate of decline remained marked overall. Approximately 30% of panellists reported lower permanent staff availability during the latest survey period, versus around 11% that noted an improvement.
Lower permanent candidate availability was signalled across the English regions, with the sharpest drop indicated in the Midlands.
Availability of Temp/Contract Staff
The availability of candidates for temporary/contract positions fell further in May. That said, the rate of decline eased to the least marked in 32 months. The Midlands led a broad-based fall in temp availability during the latest survey period.
