The availability of candidates for permanent roles continued to fall in September. Although easing to the slowest in three months, the rate of decline remained marked overall. Around 39% of panellists reported lower permanent staff availability, compared with 12% that signalled an improvement.
All four English regions registered lower permanent staff availability, with the sharpest reduction signalled in the Midlands and the slowest decline indicated in London.
Availability of temp/contract staff
The availability of staff for temporary/contract roles continued to decline at a marked rate in September, albeit slower than in August.
London-based agencies signalled the steepest deterioration in short-term staff availability, while those in the South noted the slowest fall.
