Availability of permanent staff
Permanent staff availability fell for an eighteenth successive month in October. The rate of decline remained sharp, despite easing slightly to the least marked since May. Around 41% of panellists reported lower permanent staff availability, compared with approximately 8% that signalled an improvement.
The Midlands led a broad-based reduction in permanent staff availability during October.
Availability of temp/contract staff
Temporary/contract staff availability showed another marked decline in October, with the latest fall sharper than those registered in August and September.
Temp availability decreased to the greatest extent in the Midlands in October.
