Job Title: Design Engineer
Position Reports to: Design Engineering Manager
Job Purpose Summary
To develop fabricated cushion designs based on customer design data and requirements. The engineer will be required to interrogate customer drawings, 2D/3D data and even physical flying products. Following this analysis the engineer will be required to develop solutions which are manufactureable using Franklin’s fabrication processes, tooling and equipment.
The Engineer will work with the team to ensure designs are produced within tight time constraints and cost, weight and ergonomic considerations are accounted for. They will be responsible for ensuring customer requirements are delivered on time and to the customers specification.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
· Development of new products, liaising with customers to obtain relevant design information. Representing Franklin Products at customer meetings.
· Creation and maintenance of production documentation to enable the manufacture of product.
· Creation and maintenance of drawings for finished product and tooling.
· Liaising with suppliers.
· Consider throughout the design process the manufacturability of engineering designs to ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices, quality standards and customer needs.
· Prepare information for the Bills of Materials (BOM) team manufacture foam cushions.
· Provide data relating to the cushion construction for the certification team.
Job Requirements
o AutoCAD 2D -Essential.
o Autodesk inventor 3D -Preferable
o Good mathematical understanding -Essential.
o Experience of MRP systems and production planning -Preferable
o Experience of running project -Preferable
o Experience of customer/ supplier liaison -Preferable
o Ability to take ownersip of projects and see them through from the outset to competition.
o Dynamic, and motivated individual prepared to work overtime as and when required to meet customer deadlines.
