A great opportunity has arisen for a full time Manufacturing Cost Accountant to work for one of Exeter's biggest employers on a 8 month contract basis.
The Cost Accountant will enable the Company to establish a more accurate costing system, which will provide a more reliable platform for management decisions, we are looking for a suitably qualified person to undertake a complete review of all our manufacturing bills of materials, but with particular emphasis on the labour timings and associated costs.
JOB DESCRIPTION
* Establishment of a set of a clearly defined set of work centres (whether machine or departmental) and skill groups (such as competence to run specific machines) which can be used for labour costing purposes, by critically reviewing existing information.
* Verification of all current operations and times taken on the shop floor.
* Preparation of the data required to implement these into a computerised Routing system, within Sage 1000. The likely output being a matrix of product groups against labour type, in the case of assembly lines, with an additional matrix for manufactured components made for those assembly lines.
* Compare existing and revised labour times to by product to provide the Directors with a variance report.
* Establish job set up times and default batch sizes and prepare the data required to implement these into a computerised Routing system, within Sage 1000.
* Ensure processes are established to keep these up to date once established under the new methodology.
* Maintain an overview of the process of bills of material set up and amendment.
* Manage the process of implementing the relevant modules within the Sage 1000 system in combination with the IT department.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
* Experience of working with computerised manufacturing systems, preferably Sage Line 500 or 1000.
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, especially excel.
* Understanding of costing systems.
Advantageous
* The knowledge of, and ability to work across a range of manufacturing teams, including CNC operation, assembly, fabrication and welding.
* Manufacturing experience (preferably in a sheet metal environment) and an ability to read drawings.
* Experience of working with Bills Of Materials and Route Planning.
* Experience in work and time study measurement.
