Body Langauage Advice

Body language is very important in an interview and tells the interviewer a lot about you. We asked Laura Perkins, Meridian’s Resourcing Manager for her expert advice on how to use body language to acheive success at interview.

During her time with Meridian, Laura has conducted hundreds of interviews and has even won the sought after Internal Resourcer of the Year Award; so when it comes to making a great first impression at interview she really knows her stuff!

  • Correct your posture – don’t slouch, look alert and interested
  • Maintain eye contact – but try not to stare
  • Engage with the interviewer - If you’re being interviewed by a panel then speak to the person who is asking the question but glance at the rest of the panel.
  • Nod – to show you are listening and taking on board what is being said
  • Smile – when appropriate
  • Relax – try not to look tense even if you feel it!
